Raised in the small country town of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Mr. Bassinator’s connection to fishing began long before Swangin’ Poles ever had a name. As a kid, he spent his time fishing rivers, where the water became more than a place to catch fish—it became a place that kept him focused, grounded, and out of trouble. Years later, when he picked up a rod again, he rediscovered just how deeply he loved the sport. But this time, fishing sparked a bigger vision: to create something that could bring people together through a shared love of the water while giving young people the same positive outlet fishing once gave him. That vision became Swangin’ Poles. With a life centered around philanthropy, mentorship, and mental health awareness, Mr. Bassinator wants his impact to extend far beyond fishing. Through community, education, entertainment, and outreach, he hopes to introduce more people—especially youth—to the peace, discipline, confidence, and connection that can be found on the water. Also a musician and entertainer, Mr. Bassinator brings another dimension to the traditional fishing world. His vision is to bridge the gap between fishing and entertainment, creating a culture where anglers are personalities, their stories matter, and the sport can reach audiences who may have never imagined themselves picking up a rod. For Mr. Bassinator, fishing isn't simply a hobby. It’s purpose. It’s community. And it’s an opportunity to change lives.

There’s a reason I fish, and it goes deeper than catching a bass. I lost my mom when I was only 14 years old. Growing up came with hardships, struggles, and moments that forced me to become stronger before I was ready. There were times when life felt heavy, and I didn’t always know where to turn. Then I found fishing. Out on the water, everything gets quiet. The noise in my head fades, the stress disappears, and for a little while, I can just breathe. Fishing has given me a kind of peace that’s hard to put into words. It reminds me that sometimes you don’t need all the answers—you just need a moment to be still. And in those moments, I feel closest to God. Sitting on the water, watching the sunrise, feeling the wind, and waiting for that next bite reminds me that there’s something bigger than me. Fishing has helped me heal parts of myself I didn’t even realize were hurting. It’s given me patience, peace, purpose, and a place to reflect. I fish for the memories I’ve lost, for the struggles I’ve overcome, for the person I’ve become, and for the peace I continue to find. Maybe that’s why every time I’m on the water it feels like I’m where I’m supposed to be.

As a native of Atlanta, Georgia, I have been an avid angler since the tender age of three, amassing over two decades of fishing experience. My passion for the sport was instilled in me by my great-grandmother and uncle, with whom I spent countless hours on fishing expeditions. While my heart lies in pan fishing for bream and crappie, I also venture into larger bodies of water like the Tennessee River, where I engage in trophy-size catfish fishing with a close friend. My fishing escapades have taken me to some of the most renowned lakes in the southeastern United States, and I have even had the privilege of experiencing the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico, where I pursued the mighty red snapper. I have been a guide for 5 years on lake allatoona and currently have tied the lake record shellcracker.

I’ve loved fishing for as long as I can remember. I started fishing when I was only 2 years old with my uncle, and one of my first catches was a barracuda. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on fishing and I’ve never stopped. I’m from Toronto, Canada, and fishing has become a huge part of who I am. My favorite fish to catch is definitely the peacock bass. There’s just something about how they look and how hard they fight that makes them so fun to catch. Hope everyone experiences the feeling of there first fish.
